I Will Not Fail Thee, Nor Forsake Thee, President Thomas S. Monson
You can’t make it through this life without facing some suffering and sorrow. It is easy to become impatient when facing great trials. Therefore, enduring to the end becomes a great test which some do not survive.
President Monson declares that the gospel of Jesus Christ is what will get you through, whatever comes your way. Jesus Christ is God and He has all power and can mend any broken thing. You endure to the end through the gospel of Jesus Christ. How?
True, real joy, not the fake kind that Satan pushes on you is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. Satan will take kernels of truth and grind it and process it until it is something far from the truth. Or, the father of all lies will take a lie and maybe for good measure add some truth possibly even scripture to confuse us more until it seems good to us and we accept it.
He is the master deceiver!
Jesus Christ promised that He will not forsake us or fail us. This knowledge should infuse your soul with hope and strength. There is nothing beyond the reach of the Savior, because He can redeem every man or woman who will repent.
Trials have a divine purpose in our life. President Monson said trials help us to “become something different from what we were- better than we were, more understanding that what we were, more empathetic than we were, with stronger testimonies than we had before.” He continued by saying, “Were it not for challenges to overcome and problems to solve, we would remain much as we are, with little or no progress toward our goal of eternal life.”
Personal trials have a tendency to either soften our hearts or harden them. The Book of Mormon also teaches that we easily forget God; therefore, He sends down tribulation to drive us to our knees for help.
If you are like many people, you don’t like pain. But you also shouldn’t run from your challenges. Also, don’t seek them out.
It is tough when you nobody else can relate to your personal challenges. However, no matter what you are going through Jesus Christ perfectly knows what you are experiencing because He has already taken them upon Him. Therefore, He is your greatest source of help.
