You Can Be Reconciled To Jesus Christ Through His AtonementThe Things Of My SoulAtonement Series Jacob 4:11; “be reconciled unto him through the atonement of Christ.” (Book Of Mormon) Be Reconciled To Jesus Christ
What does it mean to be reconciled? I looked it up and it means to be accustomed, adapted, adjusted, reunited, comfortable, and soothed. In the recent General Conference this last weekend (April 2015) Elder Bednar gave a powerful talk about overcoming fear and doubt through Jesus Christ. He said that we will not be afraid of Christ in the Final Judgment, and I feel that applies to the wicked and ungodly as well. Instead, we will feel keenly everything that we have tried to hide from the Lord. As a result, we will feel sorrow for ourselves for all the ways we have rationalized our sins, and then every hidden thing will be brought to light. To be reconciled to God in my mind is to feel confident in God’s presence. One of the main purposes of the atonement is to bring us back into the presence of God and be pure and sanctified enough to remain with Him. The atonement of Jesus Christ makes us clean and pure and worthy to live with God.
Hell is defined as being banished out of God’s presence. Our doctrine teaches there are many kingdoms of glory, and to receive anything other than the top is hell because God is not there. Returning to our heavenly home requires repentance, and repentance is the most important activity we can do in this life to prepare for the next life. Every human being will report to Jesus Christ and give an accounting of their life. To me, reconciled could also mean to be one with Christ and Heavenly Father. To me, oneness means gaining eternal life, which is to have the same kind of life that God has. Eternal Life is to think what He thinks, to feel what He feels, and to do what He does, just to name a few. What are the implications of being reconciled to Christ? It means we were with Jesus in a pre-earth life, and with our Heavenly Father. In my opinion, we perhaps had one final one on one talk with God before we were born to earth. Or, possibly He might have given us a Heavenly Father’s blessing. I think this is what He might have said;

There is nothing more important in this life or in this world than the gospel of Jesus Christ, as revealed by the Apostles and Prophets because it finds evil and wicked men and transforms them into good men, and good men into righteous men. Ultimately, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the world’s only hope for salvation, peace and safety.
