Jesus Christ’s Atonement Made Mercy Possible April 02, 2015 |
Mercy Is Possible Because of Jesus Christ And The AtonementThe Things Of My SoulAtonement Newsletter The Things of My Soul Alma 42: 15; “therefore God Himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a perfect God, just God, and a merciful God also.” The atonement of Jesus Christ brings about the plan of mercy. Without the atonement, life would be utterly and completely hopeless. Can you imagine? Additionally, mercy would be impossible. Repentance would also be unattainable, you could try but it would not do you any good. Mercy is a specific part of the plan of salvation that God presented to us in the pre-existence. I cannot understand why one third of our spirit brothers and sisters rejected this plan. Mercy was not a fringe or side benefit, it is a core part of the atonement. It was intentional and deliberate. This matters because Satan is the father of all lies and deceit. He will try and convince you that the game is over when you sin. Also, he tries to get us to fall between two extremes, feeling we must be perfect and feeling no responsibility toward God. Some people feel very acutely their smallest sins and weaknesses, while others feel nothing.

There is nothing more important in this life or in this world than the gospel of Jesus Christ, as revealed by the Apostles and Prophets because it finds evil and wicked men and transforms them into good men, and good men into righteous men. Ultimately, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the world’s only hope for salvation, peace and safety.
