Protecting Your Family Against Satan November 27, 2017 |
Hardening The Target Against SatanBook of Mormon Marriage And Family Study1 Nephi 14: 3 “that he might lead away the souls of men to hell.” Satan is the father of all lies and the master deceiver. For example, he is an expert at making lies look appealing and accepting to society. This leads society down a path of serious consequences. The destruction of the family is a good example. Satan has preached so many false lies about the family causing much dysfunction. Things like drug addiction, spousal abuse and child abuse, neglecting children drive children to run away from home, who then are vulnerable to sex traffickers. Complacency Kills!!!! It kills us spiritually. Satan is both direct and subtle. I think Satan prefers the direct approach because it easily catches those with weak spiritual defenses. However, Satan uses the subtle (or covert tactics) on relatively strong spiritual families because they will not fall for his direct attacks. For instance, Satan can boldly march into families with weak defenses. These are soft targets to him. Soft target families are those who do little to nothing to make their homes a haven away from the wicked world; and therefore have little to no defenses to keep Satan out. In contrast, Satan is forced to use subtle tactics to infiltrate strong families because they will easily detect his direct threats. These families have multiple layers of defenses to detect, neutralize and destroy him. Families with hard targets surround their life and home with light and truth. They immerse their environment with things that invite the spirit. President Uchtdorf said, “Whatever causes our spiritual ailments, they all have one thing in common; the absence of divine light.” And, “We will find spiritual healing as we step away from the shadows of the world and into the everlasting Light of Christ.”
Also, “This is the ultimate remedy for spiritual sickness. Darkness vanishes in the presence of light.”
