God is no respecter of persons. You have the right and privilege as anyone else to know God and receive inspiration and revelation from Him. Joseph taught that you can have revelations, dreams, visions from God on all subjects pertaining to your salvation.

He said the Holy Ghost is the greatest revelator God has given to man. He talked about “pure intelligence”, which can flow, unto you giving you sudden strokes of ideas. When you are in tune enough to receive the sudden strokes of ideas and are not distracted by the cares of the world, these sudden strokes of ideas will come to pass.

Joseph Smith received the Holy Ghost and held it as an extremely valuable gift. It will always lead you right. It might inspire you to do things that you don’t understand. The Holy Ghost will uncover the false beliefs that you hold about yourself and the world. It might be a stretching experience to shed your false beliefs and traditions.
