The Gospel Is True November 26, 2017 |
The Word Of God Was Powerful To Change The World In The Past And Work Miracles And Therefore Can Also Build Powerful Marriages And FamiliesBook of Mormon Marriage And Family Study1 Nephi 10: 18 “for he is the same yesterday, today and forever.” God never changes! What does this mean for marriages and families? The gospel is true! Therefore, the same things that made every ancient prophet great (think Moses, Abraham, Enoch, Lehi, Nephi, King Mosiah) are how we will become great. They were not only great prophets but also great fathers and husbands. I don’t know if the Sons of Mosiah were married or not; however, if the word of God in them were powerful enough to convert their enemy (The Lamanites); surely that same power of God’s word would give them a powerful Celestial marriage and family. The Lamanites delighted in killing them to the point that some wanted war. I think of Enoch who did something similar to the Sons of Mosiah but in a different way. He brought a wicked city on the verge of destruction by the Lord to repentance. He turned the city around to such a degree that it was eventually translated and taken up to heaven. The city under his leadership and because of the power of the word of God truly learned how to love one another. Enoch gained so much power with God that “all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of Enoch” who came against them to battle. If the word of God could give Enoch that much power over their enemies and in turning a wicked city around, imagine what his marriage and family life was like?
