Baptism and confirmation are how you show God your desire to follow Him. When you are baptized and confirmed you make a covenant and take upon yourself the name of Jesus Christ. You become His son or daughter. You also covenant that you will always remember Him and keep His commandments.

You also promise to stand as a witness for Him at all times. You promise that you will help those in need.

God promises that if you do these things you will always have the companionship of the Holy Ghost. He will forgive your sins. You will be born again spiritually. He will change you into a better person.

The purpose of the gospel is to make bad men good and good men better.
