The test of this life ultimately comes down to one thing!

What will influence you? Or said another way, what are your sources of influence?

Will we be influenced by God or the world?

We can gauge how well we are doing as parents by what our children desire, and how they spend their time.

Sadly, sometimes as parents we have good intentions but too often we lead our children down the wrong road to a life of worldliness. Some are tempted to do what everyone else is doing. For example, some feel that Mom’s must rush their children off to soccer practice just because everyone else has their children in soccer, or baseball, or whatever. We think if our children are not engaged in extracurricular activities then we are not good parents. These extracurricular activities aren’t inherently evil; however, I can’t see how watching a child play soccer or baseball builds faith or character in the child or the family. All I am suggesting is if these extracurricular family activities choke out (limits) time to discuss the word of God as a family, these activities should be limited or eliminated.

Discussing the word of God as a family only once or twice a week because that is the only time you are not driving children to soccer practice or not watching a ball game will not build on the foundation of Christ.

Everything we do is at the expense of something else.

The foundation of a family should be built upon the word of God and not sports or movies or anything else.
