Bearing Children Is A Holy Commandment Of God

Having Children Is A Sacred Honor and Responsibility, Not A Burden

Book of Mormon Marriage And Family Study

2 Nephi 2:20

"And they have brought forth children."

The Family: A Proclamation To The World says;

“In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life.”

“The First Commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for his children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force.”

“We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan.”

As parents, we should help our children love God and make Him first in their lives. They worshiped God in the pre-existence and it is our job to help do it here. This is more important than anything else they could do in life.

Elder Richard G. Scott said, “Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media. You may need to reorganize your priorities to provide time for the study of the word of God. If so, do it!”

We should do everything possible to help our children fall in love with the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. The gospel has the answers to every personal problem.

Our children’s relationships/connection with God is far more important than their connection with friends.
